All About Optimus Gen2

However, even before this, Tesla had released one of its robots named – Bumblee in September 2022. Following that, it was made available as the Optimus Gen1 in March 2023. But this company is not going to stop now, Tesla has now launched its latest human model robot named Optimus Gen2.

Talking about the design of this robot, it has been built in much less space than before. The robot looks completely like the shape of a human. Also, its weight has been reduced by 10 kg from the previous robot but not a single feature has been excluded in it.

Features of Optimus Gen2

The movement of this robot looks exactly like a human, and it also has a neck. Most robots do not have neck movement. This work is done better with the help of actuators and sensors installed in it. This robot has a 2-DoF actuated neck which can rotate the head just like a human.

The walking of this robot has also been made much better than the previous version Gen1. In this robot, good work has been done on actuators integrated electronic and harnessing. Due to which this robot walks like a human by doing back forth hand movement and knee band.

The walking speed of this robot has been improved by 30% from the previous Tesla robot – Optimus Gen1. All this work has been done with the help of data and technology inserted in it such as foot force / torque sensing, articulated toe sections, human foot geometry.

However, in its walking style, this robot is always slightly bent, which a normal human does only while taking steps and then becomes straight. However, its walking has still been improved a lot.

The balancing of this robot has been improved a lot. Overall, it can be said that this robot has full body control because it can bend itself and balance itself like a normal human.

Its hand movement has been improved so much that it seems as if a normal human is moving his hands. And this technology has been improved with the help of the faster 11-DoF brand new hands installed in it.

Its fingers also have tactile sensing, so that it can transfer any product from one hand to the other very easily. Along with this, this robot also knows how much pressure to apply on any material and how to hold it in the fingers.

Apart from this, this robot can also be made to dance for human entertainment. Overall, this is a huge success in the world of robot technology which will prove to be very helpful for human robots.
